History

Date Posted to GIS:
2003
  • 2000: The original sidewalk information was collected through a field study and ground truthing project. Two temporary GIS staff drove through the District and collected various asset information pertaining to the road structure. Materials, types and ownership information was collected from the field and the extents of the features were marked up on hardcopy maps.
  • 2003: The spatial extents of medians were originally digitized from the 2003 orthoimagery.
  • 2009: In 2007 and 2009 additional modifications to medians were digitized from the most recent orthoimagery.
  • 2012: Additional medians were added representing traffic diverting bollards.

Quality

Accuracy
  • Digitized from 2009 orthoimagery.
  • Spatial information is collected and entered using the next best method applicable to this dataset.
  • Spatial information is very accurate but could be improved using a better collection technique.
  • Where multiple collection/entry methods, the more accurate method is predominant throughout this dataset.
Completeness
  • Spatial information is known to be complete, expected to be complete or very close to complete.

Maintenance

The Design department submits engineering drawings to the GIS department. Sidewalk information is updated accordingly. The GIS department also digitizes any updates into this dataset from the most recent orthoimagery.
